Well, whaddaya know !

The boys who bullied me went on
to be revered surgeons, rugby captains for Ireland
and university professors...
while I failed my finals
and went happily and unobtrusively
and aspirationlessly on the dole.

Of tangential relevance to the above mentioned observation by psychologists:
One of the factors considered as part of being schizoid is the lack of "life success", measured as "status, wealth and successful relationships" such condition entails, which of course is considered pathological by some major psychological association - which might very well be run by the above mentioned ilk of people you once had as 'peers'. Didn't you once remark about the lack of fantasy psychologists had?

Yours,
Martin [who couldn't be bothered anymore with finishing his puny degree in psychology many years ago]

Yes, many civilisations are obsessed with measurement, and our present, dominant one tries to measure everything according to scales and units that we invent.

Thus psychologists and sociologists tend to measure mental fitness according to their own cultural obsession with aspiration, energy, vitality, achievement, and even social success (which Hitler obviously had). Mental fitness for them is a kind of meental muscularity.

Jung's notion of individuation has been ignored and forgotten, along with other perceptive and upsetting ideas such as enantiodromia,

which is "the transformation of the hitherto valued into the worthless, and of the former good into the bad." (sorry to digress!)

I gave up on Philosophy just like you did on Psychology.
