The culture of achievement

People succeed and win
so that others fail and lose.
A saint is one who's happy
just to shine your shoes.
The culture of achievement
is the morality of bereavement
and the happily insignificant
are 'just losers' stuck in queues.

The proper use of intelligence

is to examine our lives,
not to build towers and palaces
upon our inconsequentiality.

The French

for double-entendre
is sous-entendu;
and for bon viveur
is bon vivant.
It's no wonder that the English
and the French are given
to mutual misunderstanding
and mistrust.

The system

assures us (especially if we're white)
that each of us
is unique, important -
while turning us into mere, dazed,
homogenised consumers.

The system talks of 'society'
though it depends on stamping out
everywhere
both co-operation and self-sufficiency.

The system offers us 'choice'
(of product, of political products)
while depriving us of judgement.
And never the choice of contemplation.

It is no accident that schools don't teach
statistics, logic, metaphysics - for they
might undermine the system,
the religion and the nation.

I confess

I have an identity on Twitter
because it is the ideal medium
for a suicide note - a last word
if ever I should be so silly
as to write one and could remember
my username and password...

Stephen Hawking intelligently wrote:

"The human race is just a chemical scum on a moderate-sized planet
orbiting round a very average star
in the outer suburb of one among a hundred billion galaxies."

Unfortunately, like a typical scientist, he also, unintelligently, wrote:

"My goal is simple.
It is a complete understanding of the universe,
why it is as it is and why it exists at all."

Did he never hear of hubris ? Or does he just ignore the evidence ?

Have you noticed

that people are talking much faster than they used to ?
That people are 'living' much faster than they used to
(except I wouldn't call it 'living') ?
That people are dying rather older than they used to ?
Which suggests to me that people
are more socially-engineered than they used to be,
and are turning into well-serviced, high-speed,
producing-consuming robots.

Nietzsche noticed

that God had died.
But who notices the smell
down here in Hell ?

Chagos - an archipelago in the Indian Ocean.

click for more

The Chagossians used to fish with water-loving dogs
before they were expelled from their lovely islands
by a British 'socialist' government which lent
the archipelago in perpetuity to (who else ?) the USA.

The Chagossians were sent to live in shanties
on Mauritius and the Seychelles.
The dogs were rounded up and gassed en masse,
just 20 years after the Germans
so notoriously did the same to Gypsies, Jehovah's Witnesses, Queers, etc.

Coral became concrete.
The largest island, still an American Base
that no Outsider eyes can gaze upon or criticise.
bristles with antennæ and stuff with which to spy
on you and me, our neighbours and our neighbours' dogs;
the archipelago has been designated the world's largest
Marine Conservation Area - so that if ever the Chagossians are allowed -
by the European Court of Human Rights - to return,
they will not be able to fish,
and will have to live in forced poverty
on miserable hand-outs
and notorious British colonial charity.

Aliens are everywhere

calling themselves
people.

In the past week

my blog received its first visitors
from the republics of Ireland
and Vietnam. But it is unlikely
that they will return.

The best part of life

is enjoyment of the comfort

in the rich infinity of oblivions.

The castles and the season.

The most offensive stupidity
is the use of reason
to justify the most
blatant irrationality.

Jesus and

Walt Whitman said
that the rich should become poor.
Christians say
that the poor will become rich.
Capitalists know
that the poor will get poorer
so that the rich will get richer
for they reap so very much more than they sow.

In the battle

we are Evil

what is Good. Nor where lies the border.
But there is no such thing

"Population Decline:
A Third Of Nation's Youth Have 'No Interest' In Sex.

"A startling number of Japanese youths have turned their backs on sex and relationships, a new survey has found.

"The survey, conducted by the Japanese Family Planning Association, found that 36% of males aged 16 to 19 said that they had “no interest” in or even “despised” sex. This is almost a 19% increase since the last survey in 2008.

"The Wall Street Journal reports that a whopping 59% of female respondents aged 16 to 19 said they were uninterested in or averse to sex, a near 12% increase since 2008."
