Other people

have no inkling
of how evil they are

which is yet another reason why
I'm ashamed to be human.

I do doubt your self-assessment. As if you actually ever succumbed to feelings of shame, auban. :)

Dear Hiding-behind-Anonymous,

I am deeply ashamed to be human - otherwise I would not be writing this blog.
I have also been (like everyone else) ashamed of and remorse for things I have done and said. Only a totally narcissistic psychopath would not have felt shame or remorse !

I'd be ashamed to write a comment as 'Anonymous'.

But although conscious that, as a human being, I am by my definition inevitably evil, I am also very content, living in a little paradise containing many discontented (if not disagreeable) people - to judge from their sour or vacant faces.

Happy to be ashamed and evil ?

Go figure !

My apologies, auban.

I may have conflated your lack of 'bourgeois' shame with a lack of shame shame in general.

Your generous apology is gracefully accepted :-)
