Unforeseen consequence.

The decline in the teaching
of Latin helped femininism -

simply by removing the capacity
of the young to be infected 
by Ovid's vicious sexual rapacity.

I refer here to Ovid's rather nasty ARS AMATORIA, AMORES and REMEDIA AMORIS, which were standard reading for upper class adolescents from the 17th century onwards.
Capitalism was, of course, founded on the smash-and-grab attitude to the world.
