For those who do not know the meaning of "innit": it is the modern British counterpart to Italian Non è vero? French N'est-ce pas ? German Nicht wahr ? etc. English hitherto had no equivalent, except by locutions such as "is that not so ?" or "isn't that the case" - and "innit" is a contraction of the latter to "isn't it?" and hence to "innit".
