Bewilderness
Clothed, we are only clothes.

Sometimes I am still bewildered by the thought that we are the only species to hide our bodies from each other.
Perhaps the only mistake worse than climbing down from the trees was inventing clothes. Naked humans would hardly have been able to spread everywhere and conquer the planet.
Not that we actually climbed down from the trees, dear Meanderer...! But I agree with your comment. Perhaps the Adam and Eve myth typically and diabolically celebrates the coercive peculiarity of making and wearing clothes.
