James Kirkup,*
and I was invited to his Pyrenean home.
Unfortunately, he (famously eristic)
'fell out' with me soon after.
Why couldn't I for once
have been a 'brown-noser' ?

Oddly enough I picked up a James Kirkup translation recently. A 1963 5d Penguin paperback of 'Memoirs of a Dutiful Daughter' by Simone de Beauvoir, as first translated for publishers Andre Deutsch in 1959.
