I much prefer the French sense of 'retarde', as in 'delayed' that I have seen on the electronic boards in the railway stations in France, grand places that they are. To me 'delayed' means that events are measured less by the tight schedules of digital clock time, and are progressed more by obscure blockages in schedules that have to be navigated with patience.
