Jews and Israelis quite rightly
tell us all the time about Hitler's Holocaust but don't choose (or perhaps know) to mention Stalin's, which more slowly disposed of at least twice as many non-Jews.
But there is no totemic memorial site such as Auschwitz anywhere in the former USSR, in and around which memories and historical facts can congregate, and no international organisation to focus on and broadcast the horrors perpetrated over 25 years by Stalin and his eager henchmen, including Khrushchev.

Alma (see first comment, above) is Lithuanian. Until the Russians took over or re-took (and re-defined) their territories, large numbers of Poles, Ukrainians, Latvians and Lithuanians eagerly collaborated with the Nazis in the Great Pogrom Tradition of the Russian Empire.
Yeah, some did collaborated With Nazis, some with Soviets. There were 2 choices: collaborate with Nazis (they didn't kill us ) or Soviets. From the independent county prospective Germans were more appealing than Russians that were totally barbaric towards Lithuanians.
