On the Positive Side,

the current - sixth - mass extinction
of life upon the planet, which we
are mindlessly engineering and only
pretending to try to prevent,
is (so far) one of the lesser wipe-outs,
and it will be only a couple of hundreds
of thousands of years before animals
and plants and fungi old and new
will repopulate the world (without us)
and without too much ado.
