The debate

on whether or not to acknowledge the right to euthanasia
seems to boil down to the question of
Respect for Life (abstract, religious)
versus
Respect for People who feel that their lives are over
or unbearable (particular, empathetic).

Of course it mirrors the debate over abortion.
