When I start on a poem I have a simple plan:
say something provocative and be sure to make it scan,
be honest and original, not worry about rhyme
but create a potent word-swell to echo throughout time
;-)
But poems are like lovers: they can bring a little pride -
or else they make you conscious of an emptiness inside.
But I can't stop composing them, and some* are very fine,
while others** are just doggerel that wither on the vine.
*e.g. these
** like this one
