For thousands of years
we have been killing native
European animals in order to protect
and favour mutants of ruminants
from Central Asia
and the Indian sub-continent.
This is our 'covenant
with Nature'. And we imagine
that, as beings,
we are intelligent and competent...
*This refers to the current botched badger-cull
in selected parts of England, to see if
eliminating badgers will also eliminate
tuberculosis in cattle.
