is primarily a protection-racket,
and secondarily, like religion,
an undefeatable, highly-defensible
criminal enterprise -
but
to be a 'national' of Ireland,
whose Defence Forces number just
nine thousand, do not include an air force,
and will never be a part of NATO.
On the other hand,
why have any defence forces at all ?
The answer lies in the potato.
