In the USA,
expensive prescription drugs are pushed through aggressive advertising by their manufacturers - sometimes with help from Federal authorities. Hence the Opiate Addiction Epidemic, which, thanks to racism, has not so badly affected Ethnic Minorities.
Ironically, African-Americans were excluded from the notorious Sackler racket, presumably because of their expense! Whites also assume that African(-American)s are less bothered by pain than sensitive Honkies. For once, racism has worked in favour of the descendants of slaves.

'First Nation' Americans, were, as usual, disregarded altogether.
