high-pitched, nasal, artificial
and actually unclear
American women's voices
grate on my ear.
I have a gut-feeling that
this strange fashion-trend may be due
to an unconsciously white-racist reaction to deep and gorgeous,
chthonically-feminine Afro-American voices
such as those of Toni Morrison and Maya Angelou.
