In the middle of my last night

in my decayed Irish home
a rat climbed on to the duvet
(on the futon on the floor)
to say Goodbye.
No, it was not a dream.
I left her a bar of chocolate(80% cocoa)
as a token of my esteem.

That rat would not have immediately gorged herself selfishly on that chocolate. When rats find a good bit of food like that, they take it to one of their larders for all of her community to share. Sadly, very few humans are similar.

You're right, of course. Long live rats!
