George Bernard Shaw pointed out that FISH in English could be spelled
GHOTI :  Gh as in cough; o as in women; ti as in nation.

Unlike Irish, English has had no systematic spelling reform,
except for a rather childish, aborted attempt in the US,
when humour became humor, and axe became ax, etc.
