Quite apart from war, starvation,
loss of parents, limbs and sight,
child labour, pogroms, rape and deportation,
there are so many other things to blight
a human life from birth until it ends:
school, parents, spouse, sex, hate,
offspring, job, genes, accident, fate
- and friends.
