It is a tragedy that this language
has shackled and sleazed the word,
offering no linguistic alternatives
(as Irish offers several words
for kinds and kindnesses of rain).
In a more ignorant time
(the nineteen-sixties)
we thought that the more
it was hidden, forbidden
the more toxic and driven
Sex could become for men.
We were sadly mistaken.
Anal-genital abuse is at least as rife,
sensuality just as rare in life,
since 'Sexual Liberation'.
