Build no more stately mansions,

O my soul
as the swift seasons roll;
leave your high-vaulted past.
Let every temple decompose at last,
think not of future – or of heaven – vast:
from human arrogance be free.

a riff on a poem about a nautilus
by Wendell Holmes.

A pastel palace, Kew East, Victoria, Australia.
