that in Istanbul there is an old and Ottoman tradition
of being kind to dogs, especially on cold nights.

But I didn't say that Mehmet Ali Ağca,

the Turk who tried to assassinate the Pope in 1981,

now devotes himself to looking after dogs and cats 

in that ancient city of Byzantium.
