in the form of Liberal Democracies says:
“If you’ve done nothing wrong, you have nothing to fear.”
But the reality is that if you want to do something right,
you have quite a lot to fear.
Edward Burke's dictum is ever more often repeated:
"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."
And lo! most not-bad people can do nothing.
And perhaps, as Karl says,
"All it takes for
evil to triumph is for people to exist."
Should it not be 'All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for people to exist'?
ReplyDelete'Not-bad' people - excellent. How many people are really good?
To see peole as 'evil' or 'good' is simplistic. Most people are neither.
ReplyDeleteRight, Jindra, good or bad is old-think Christian, Judaic, Islamic, Zoroastrian fundamentalism. Is there an alternative to simplistic dualism? You bet. Voltaire noted so wisely in his hilarious "Candide": "Il faut cultiver son propre jardin."
